The objective of the international symposium organized by the Esteve Foundation in October 1986 was to explore the different areas where pharmacology and toxicology increasingly converge, thus providing a better understanding of the response to drugs and of possible toxic effects. This volume number 2 of the Esteve Foundation Symposia series was edited by Professors Gabriel L. Plaa, Patrick du Souich and Sergio Erill, from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Montreal.
